Cluster Energy Technology Berlin-Brandenburg uses the Green Transition Facility to Support its SMEs
Cluster Energy Technology Berlin-Brandenburg’s key goal is to initiate and facilitate joint research and innovation projects in the Berlin region.
Cluster Energy Technology was selected in May as one of 25 clusters to receive support from the Towards Green Transition Facility. Thanks to the facility, the cluster has already successfully implemented 2 activities.
Speaking of the activities the cluster has completed since starting the facility, Robin Bruck, Project Manager Enterprise Europe Network Berlin-Brandenburg, explains that their first activity was a ‘deep-dive’ workshop with 8 SMEs from Berlin-Brandenburg. The workshop aimed to understand SMEs’ specific needs which could be addressed by a new-developed cluster service offer for sustainability.
Since the cluster is very diverse, the second activity was a needs assessment survey based on the insights from the workshop. Cluster Energy Technology received 99 responses to the survey which is an excellent basis for designing future services.
In terms of structure, Robin explains that they will focus on 3 service pillars:
- Adjust existing funding programmes to respond to sustainability issues of SMEs
- Knowledge creation, for example, hosting events on sustainability topics such as the EU Taxonomy for sustainable finance
- A networking platform for ambitious SMEs
