Electrical reuse service
Information
A wee scheme with big impacts
- Smart scheme diverts waste electrical and electronic equipment for re-use
- In this example, 5 tonnes of WEEE were diverted, saving € 15 500 and 109 tonnes of CO2 equivalents
Premier Sustain, a division of Premier Workspace Services, has developed a new service, called Renew IT, which aims to divert high-end electrical items from recycling back into re-use either through resale or donation.
The service provides money saving opportunities for clients through both the resale of goods and the reduced costs of disposal and removal. Furthermore, by reducing the volume of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), environmental benefits are achieved through, for example, CO2 emission reduction.
Such services are often required by businesses during the relocation of offices or staff when electrical equipment is updated. Premier Sustain provides the convenience of using one supplier to manage the entire logistics of relocation, yet the flexibility to pursue multiple avenues.
Key results
The company took part in the REBus pilot project to help develop resource-efficient businesses worldwide. Focusing on the large commercial relocation of between 100 and 250 staff members, the REBus pilot saw Premier Sustain divert 5 tonnes of WEEE, which could be re-marketed or re-used, saving € 15 500 and 109 tonnes of CO2 equivalents.
