French camping and holiday village boosts its energy efficiency
Information
Energy-saving savvy
- Optimising heat pump yields small but important results
- Saves € 1 000 in energy costs per year
- 11 000 kWh energy savings, equivalent to 0.9 tonnes CO2 emissions annually
Camping La Plage et Bord de Mer is a sprawling site in Vendres, France which offers a variety of camping options, holiday homes, activities and restaurants.
With its large swimming pool, the management saw an opportunity to save energy and improve its 'green' credentials. An analysis of the campsite’s energy usage revealed that the pool’s heat pump was constantly operating. During energy peak consumption points, when pool use was at its lowest (i.e. evenings, dinner time, shower time), the pool temperature was considered to be unnecessarily high. So, management decided to invest in a timestamp system programmed to regulate and optimise heat pump operations.
Key result
This measure generated € 1 000 in savings per year, allowing Camping La Plage et Bord de Mer to adapt the pool heating in line with peak usage times and the energy consumption of the whole site.
