Heat extraction in summer leads to year-round energy savings
Information
Cool response to a heated situation
- Channelling heat out of the printing plant saves air-conditioning costs
- Substantial energy savings (9 MWh)
- 2.9 tonnes less CO2 emissions, saving around € 2 040 a year
Graficas Z is a specialist printer in the Aragón region of northeastern Spain. This innovative SME is constantly looking for opportunities to reduce costs and improve production by introducing energy-saving measures.
One relatively simple measure identified was to link parts of its heating-cooling system to an extractor which channels the heat outside the plant. This alleviates ambient temperature inside the building during the hotter summer months.
Key results
This conversion saves 9 MWh of electricity and 2.9 tonnes of CO2 emissions emanating from the plant's heat pump. Graficas Z pays around € 2 040 less in annual electricity costs thanks to the heat extraction measure.
