Greiner Bio-One International GmbH is a technology partner for the diagnostic and pharmaceutical industry and medical sector. The firm operates in multiple locations and has to deal with complex transport and logistics operations and related procedures. Management decided to use web-based software solutions for tailoring and improving workflows and operations. Using the platform, Greiner now centrally manages its tendering processes, saving time and the environment thanks to more efficient logitics decision-making.

The main challenge of the project was to centralise activities being performed in several locations, including Kremsmünster, Rainbach (Austria), Frickenhausen (Germany), Mosonmagyaróvár (Hungary), Chonburi (Thailand), while maintaining the service quality. The company wanted a central and uniform purchasing solution with consistent service levels regardless of location. Optimisation of processes was also expected to improve associated transport loading and logistics decisions, leading to more efficient routing and fewer transport kilometres, thus less CO2 emissions.

Key benefits

Today, the procurement, tendering and job preparation, processing and communication with logistics partners is run through Satiamo®. The freight tendering is carried out using the web-based Elogate® software. The whole freight procurement process is now centralised which boosts synergies, reduces transportation costs and emissions, and means fewer logistics service providers are needed to maintain high quality levels.
