The energy and the packaging sector came together on October 1 in a virtual seminar to share different business models in which sustainability was the protagonist. With this introductory session, the foundations of the 'Business Sustainability Management' training were established and three strategies were studied on how to incorporate sustainability into our business management and in relations with consumers, the value chain and the rest of the relationship groups.

Schneider Electric, led by Joaquim DauraActive Energy Management Director of the company considered the most sustainable in the world according to Corporate Knights, began the meeting with a fundamental thesis such as to consider sustainability as a business strategy as a whole, not as a trend to follow. Before establishing an action plan, it is possible to agree and establish a single global vision as an organization, in line with all departments. "With this vision, we can set goals and understand the impact of our activity," said Daura.

On the part of Duni Group, the Commercial Director of Southern Europe, Elodie Porter, stressed the need not to work only on their products, and since 2009 they have begun to consider sustainability in all its facets. Porter emphasized that "It is the company's responsibility to offer its consumers the best solution, not just think about selling its products," said the European official.

In addition, Oriol AranQuadpack's Research Development Engineering Manager, highlighted the respect of the multinational Quadpack throughout the community, with various solutions: use of natural materials, own manufacturing, self-sufficiency in the energy process and actions through the Quadpack Foundation.

Sònia Ruiz, CEO of the strategic consultancy Noima, closed the session with a call for active commitment to face the great challenges of climate change and the destruction of biodiversity with courage. "As companies, society and member states will demand more transparency and information about our impact on the environment, so that the consequences of our activity can be audited," Ruiz said.
