International cooperation and superclusters in the agri-food ecosystem
On 4 May, the European Alliance Against Coronavirus talked about international cooperation based on the example of a European and a Canadian food cluster.
Karra-Lee Gerrits from Protein Industries Canada introduced their supercluster that was initiated by the Canadian government to address challenges in the global agri-food system. They have close to 300 members across Canada and 14 international members and work on technology, co-investment, and capacity building on plant-based food product value chains. As European consumers are drivers of trends for plant-based food products, there are lots of opportunities for international companies on the European market, which is why the two clusters initiated their cooperation.
Anni Simonsen from Food & Bio Cluster Denmark presented their cluster’s offers and alliances, which are directed towards access to new projects, funding, and collaboration opportunities.
Food & Bio Cluster Denmark initiated the collaboration with Protein Industries Canada to accelerate the business and market development for the members, to have a meeting place, and to maximise innovation. Both clusters aim to create synergies and support sustainable solutions in the agri-food ecosystem.
